Hi everyone,

Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by Insafe in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world. This year Safer Internet Day was on Tuesday 9th February.

We recognised the day in school via a Safer Internet Day themed assembly, class-work centring on e-safety and a letter to parents with the following information sheets and booklets with advice on how to facilitate an open dialogue with children regarding their online usage.   We are also offered a free E-safety session to parents on Tuesday 8th March at 2.45- 3.30pm. Thanks to all the parents that attended the session, who helped to make it a success. We hope you found it useful.

There are a lot of excellent resources available for parents on the Safer Internet Website, including advice on how to set up parental controls and a parent’s guide to technology, giving details of the various devices children use to access the internet. See the ‘resources’ section of the following website for further information.
If you would like any further advice or information regarding e-safety for children please feel free to contact me in school.  Remember everyone to be SMART online.
