Many thanks to our Autumn Term garden group which were:

Charlie Scrase, Claire Barrett, Billie- Jo Evans, Lydia Roberts, Nikita Fairhurst and Bailey Littler.  They have done a fantastic job of keeping our flower beds looking tidy, clearing some of the mammoth amounts of leaves around the playground and replanting our pots around the main entrance to school.  See the photos below of some of the group with their newly replanted pots.

We have also planted lots of crocus, daffodil, muscari and anemone bulbs around our woody tree and in the flower beds around the edge of the playground as well as in the quiet area to give us some early spring colour.

Well done everyone.

Anti-bullying week15-11-2015 | 20:40:41 | No Comments

anti-b 2

Hi everyone.  As you probably know, this week is anti-bullying week.  This year we have chosen to raise awareness in a number of ways, through posters displayed around school, an anti-bullying judo session (see the photos below) and work focusing on anti-bullying in classes.

The School Council have also run their ‘design an anti-bullying badge or key-ring competition.   The three overall winners and three runners up of the competition will be announced in our anti-bullying assembly on Monday.  The winners were…

Anti-bullying badge-keyring design comp winners

Anti-bullying Badge comp runners up

Each pupil will win a prize and have their badge and key-ring made up for them to wear to school during the week. The competition was judged by school council members who will be raising awareness by displaying posters in their classrooms and will also be giving one of the made-up badges or key-rings to every child during the week.

Also, don’t forget to tune in to our ‘Make a noise about bullying’ (this year’s theme) radio show which has been produced by 4 very hard working pupils from years 5 and 6 to raise the issue of bullying in schools and how pupils can get help, here at St David’s. Thanks to Joshua R, Lucie R, Callum K and Charlotte W, you were fantastic.  The show will be played to all pupils in their classes throughout the week and excerpts will be played in our anti-bullying themed assembly.

See our photos of our anti-bullying judo session below.  We learned what bullying is, how to defend ourselves against it assertively and discussed respect.

Gardening tools

May me say a big thank you to Mr Andrew Horrocks and friends from the Aspull Forum for donating two fruit trees , one apple and one pear to our school.

They have been planted by Mr Horrocks with the help of one of our two excellent garden group helpers (see the photos below).   We hope we will see many fruitful harvests in years to come.
